Good morning beautiful Sangha.
We hope you are enjoying spring, and the promise of some downtime over the Easter weekend.
Just a few days ago, we marked the Spring Equinox – the day on which light and dark are equal. From here light leads the way and the days get longer. There is a surge in energy and we feel it. With more light, your body produces less melatonin and more serotonin. Energy lifts. Focus sharpens. The system begins to organise itself differently. Not through effort or imposed (and often unreliable!) motivation, but through environment.
In India, yogis often mark this time of year with practices performed at sunrise, meditating on the light and being present to the seasonal shifts. Now is the time to work on balance postures, waking the body up from winter, integrating detoxifying twists, and planting seeds of intention. What do you want this new season to feel like for you? What do you want to achieve for yourself? How can you cultivate hope and joy; in life, in practice, in every situation? Seeing the trees in blossom, lambs in the fields and bright sunshine naturally cultivates hope, it is everywhere. It can feel hard to find or hold hope in these often dark, chaotic times, but hope is all we have, it is also all that we need! It permeates the dark corners of our minds as light overtakes the dark of night and fuels us forward to find beauty, peace or stillness in a new day.
At Yoga Sangha, everything we do is built around hope and renewal, especially at this time of year. Classes for every ability that offer space, community and focus during your week, escape from the world outside and growth that travels with you on and off the mat. When the season is moving forward, you don’t need to push, you just need somewhere to meet it. Come and join us this spring, let us be that space that nourishes your hope, and your goals and strengthens you on your journey through spring and beyond.
With love and light always,
Yvette and team Sangha xx
