We are so excited to welcome back the world-renowned Ashtanga Yoga teacher Lotta Sebzda to Yoga Sangha Manchester
Lotta found Ashtanga yoga in the late 1990s and was immediately drawn to the practice, describing it as "coming home". Nearly three decades later, it remains at the heart of her life and teaching.
Lotta has spent nearly three decades immersed in the traditional Mysore method, studying with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois. She now travels internationally, sharing the knowledge and experience gathered through years of dedicated practice and teaching.
Her own practice is rooted in dedication, love, curiosity, energy and gratitude. Alongside her teaching and practice, Lotta balances a busy working life with her family, including two adult children and two grandchildren.
Lotta brings this depth of experience to her teaching with warmth, kindness and a genuine understanding that every body and every practice is different.
She is also well known for her love of being upside down — and particularly for her handstands!
The practice felt like coming home.

Develop strength and mobility.
In this workshop we’ll explore the fundamentals of developing strength, mobility and stability for inversions. We’ll break down key inversions from the Ashtanga Primary and Intermediate series, exploring the role of breath, technique and body awareness.
Whether you’re curious about trying an inversion for the first time, or want to deepen your understanding and stability in postures already in your practice, Lotta will offer practical tools, support and plenty of opportunities to explore.
Suitable for all levels.
4:00–5:00pm
A chance to sit down with a cuppa, ask questions and chat with Lotta about practice, technique and the things that come up along the way.
With almost 30 years of experience weaving her practice around work and family life, Lotta will happily share what she has learned – both on and off the mat.
9:00–11:00am
Return to your self-practice with another morning of traditional Mysore-style Ashtanga.
Lotta will offer individual support and guidance throughout the practice, helping you explore your own practice with confidence, curiosity and kindness.
Everyone welcome – beginners through to seasoned Ashtangis.
12:00–2:00pm
See the world upside down
Building on Saturday’s work with inversions, we’ll explore the foundations of a handstand practice, including alignment, technique, strength and balance.
We’ll work through practical drills and exercises, with plenty of time to experiment and find your own route towards greater stability and ease on your hands.
Whether you’re completely new to handstands or already have an established practice, there’s something here for you.
